This is a historic property that seems to trade on its reputation. It is in a fantastic setting; adjacent to a lake with great mountain views. The accomodations are cabins, most with at least some view of the lake. It is very pastoral and relaxing. However, the condition of cabins is nothing special and they are in need of updating, unless you are really into seeing how hotels were furnished/decorated decades ago.
The cabins are spread out; the hotel offers golf cart service in case you don't want to walk or have too much luggage to walk, to the main lodge, but pick-ups are slow and not when promised.
There are several restaurants in the main lodge and offer very good food, but are significantly overpriced. Because the lodge is isolated, there isn't much competetion.
Decent, but not exceptional fitness center; likewise for the business center.
Service was spotty, which is particularly annoying at what postions itself as a high end property. There were a significant number of minor service sanfus; too many to be excused.
I would suggest staying in the town of Jasper. None of those hotels appear to be anything special, but at least you have access to the restaurants, shops, bars in Jasper and won't be paying a premium for a hotel name. However, this is worth a trip to see the setting and to splurge for a meal.
