Near the Mall and the Metro- Donovan house is a perfect hotel for a visit to D.C. Staff is courteous, professional, and helpful, without being stuffy. Decor in the rooms is very modern (recently renovated) and comfortable. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. more

I just returned from DC..celebrating my 6 year anniversary. The lsat few times in DC we stayed at the Renaissance Hotel so my husband surprised me by trying something different. He definately took a chance as this hotel is fairly new and you dont always know what you will get with a Boutique hotel...but I was pleasantly surprised. The lobby... more

Donovan House looks nice but it doesn't provide the luxury you'd expect from a "cool," modern hotel. The staff were really nice, and it's in a great location, but the bed was too hard (my neck still hurts); the pillows were totally flat; it was impossible to get real light in the room; the shower looked cool but it was... more

My husband and I are DC locals, but we stayed at the Donovan House after celebrating our anniversary at a nearby restaurant. I waffled between staying at the Westin and Donovan House, but decided on the Donvan House to try something new. Needless to say, I regret that decision. Let me begin by giving credit where credit is due. We... more

I have been travelling to DC for years and I was anxious to try the newest DC boutique hotel. This hotel felt fresh and hip. Some of the others in the city just felt cheap and like a poor imitation of a hip hotel. I feel like I finally found a hotel that is not the typical DC classic. A... more

A couple problems. I arrived with a confirmation number and room rate guaranteed by the Hotel's web site and the front desk told me the confirmation number didn't match anything in their system. Fortunately, they accommodated me at the room rate quoted on the Thompson Hotels web site, but the entire transaction concerned me. I stayed two nights. I went... more

I booked the Donovan House on Hotels.com for around $90.00 a night for a 3 night stay. I am not sure why the price was so reasonable because the Hotel was amazing. They offered us an upgraded room for an extra $30.00 a night. My husband was sold when the clerk told him the view was superior. We upgraded to... more

Stayed at the Donovan House last weekend for a nice 4-day weekend in DC with hubby. I would agree with most of the posters that the service was friendly, and the design is okay. But all of this cool design serves absolutely no function in the rooms or for the guests. This is not a hotel designed for its guests.... more

I booked my two-night stay on Hotwire, so I knew that I was probably going to get the low-end room type--the Queen Superior. The woman at check-in was polite enough, but she definitely gave me a less than desirable room, room 300. In addition to being within earshot of the elevator (ding, ding) as all rooms ending in 00 are,... more
